The Family Tree of John Marsh
The following family history was written in 1964 by my great great uncle JOHN MARSH, of Superior Ave, Trenton, Michigan.
John was born in Askew Bridge Road (now Brick Kiln Lane), Gornal Wood, in Staffordshire in 1899. He emigrated to Trenton, Michigan, in 1924, and lived there until his death in 1989.
John was very much interested in genealogy, and is known to have made several trips back to the Black Country to revisit his roots. He sent a copy of his carefully-researched family tree to my grandparents in the 1960s, with the instruction to "keep this record up to date", and I am sure that if he was alive today he would be delighted that the internet allows us the opportunity to make his research available worldwide.
The family tree contains the names of a number of families from the area around Gornal in the Black Country, and also John's descendants and those of his brother who reside in the USA and Canada. I have created a List of Place Names and a List of Personal Names mentioned in the family tree for ease of reference.
I am very keen to carry out his wishes to update the information it contains, and would love to hear from anyone who is related to any individuals mentioned here. If you can help, please contact me. Also, since this information was drawn up in the 1960s it is likely to refer to many individuals who are still living; if you find information relating to yourself or your relations and are unhappy about it appearing here, please let me know and I shall remove it.
