Researching Your Family Tree and History? Can Yampy Help?

This page has two aims. As we compile articles for Yampy we will index any interesting surnames we come across, in case they are of some use to people investigating their family roots. At the same time, we want to publish your own requests for information, in the hope that Yampy site visitors can help each other. We will be adding to the index regularly, so please check frequently.

If you wish to put a request for information about your family on this page, please email us at roots@yampy.co.uk giving the surname, any specific information you are looking for, and your own contact details. Good Luck!

18/12/04 Bill writes:

I wonder if anyone can help me to trace my Grandmother, Nellie Porter.

My Grandfather, Herbert Christoper Small lived at 34 Graveyard, Lower Gornal and married Nellie Porter at Himley Parish Church on August 5, 1917. He was 31 years old and she was only 20.

My Dad William Harry Small was born in 1918 and a couple of years later Nellie disappeared.

My Grandad was a miner and lived all his days at 82 Deepdale Lane Lower Gornal. His brother Noah married Sarah Ann Tomlinson and he had a younger brother Arthur and two sisters Leah and Alice.

I realise that Nellie will no longer be alive but I wonder if anyone knows what became of her.
