POETRY
Another Glorious Day by Gary Westwood

Another morning, just one more,
Time to wash, perhaps to think,
Watching, waiting, anticipating,
What the new day will bring.

They値l be food, not a lot,
If I知 lucky, it may be hot.
Could be tea and cake,
But then, perhaps not.

A skylark sings overhead,
A feathered fanfare
To our night time dead
Still lying where they fell.

More fresh faces, they値l arrive,
To replace our grateful dead,
Full of vigour and drive,
Ideals fixed in their heads.

They don稚 know,
But soon they値l find
The best and worst,
That makes Mankind.

They値l witness courage
Like they致e never seen,
Shell holes smoking,
Where their friends had been.

If they survive
What tales they値l tell
Of their time spent
In this living hell.

There seems no answer
To this pointless waste
Of England痴 finest youth.
A change of thought, perhaps?
If the nation knew the truth.
