It's that time of the year when thoughts inevitably turn to that special feast day, celebrated on the 25th of a winter month.

Yes, St. Crispin's Day is the 25th of October, and Gornal CAMRA-recommended pub The Jolly Crispin is aiming to commemorate the patron saint of shoemakers with a special event designed to banish thoughts of the looming Christmas chores.

On tap will be the special Crispin Anniversary Ale - 5.5% abv at £1.50 a pint!

Plus, landlady Julie Rowe tells us "there'll be curry, chilli and french bread from 3.00 pm - while stocks last!"
