Relax, you're in Gornal now

Here at Yampy we spend quite a bit of time using the power of the internet to make sure that Gornal is known for more than just great pubs and an unfathomable accent. We are always keen to hear of new and different businesses opening in the village, so were pleased to learn that the community now has a Reiki practice on its doorstep.

No, it's not a martial art! - although it does originate from the Far East. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning something like 'universal life energy', and is a natural system of healing and relaxation based on ancient principles.

Reiki Master Lisa Jayne Harris G.R.A. R.R.P has just started a surgery at The Courtyard, 3 Abbey Street Gornal Wood (between Alan Whittle Butchers and NP Computers), and offers treatments, consultations and courses.

Lisa Jayne tells us that Reiki, a recognised and accepted complementary therapy, works by stimulating the body's own healing abilities, and can help with all sorts of ailments including aches and strains and sporting injuries. It can provide an effective pain relief and is calming and relaxing.

She shares the Abbey Street practice with Christine Buck, who specialises in Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, and Thermo Auricular Therapy (Hopi EAR Candles). Both Christine and Lisa Jayne are currently (May 2003) running a limited period promotion of an introductory session for just £10, so if you're curious about complementary therapy here's your chance to try it locally without breaking the bank.

To book an appointment or find out more ring Lisa Jayne on 07816 790960, or take a look at the web page she has set up with Christine at www.elementsoftranquility.co.uk
