Dommie-nation of rookie Red Cow team

A Gornal pub domino team that was formed just one year ago has won £600 in a national contest.

Regulars at the Red Cow, including licensee Ian Love, entered the Sedgley Domino League this season, and won it at the first attempt. They then competed in a national knock-out competition and came runners-up, losing narrowly in the final.

Proud team members pictured in tonight's Express and Star include Brian Sadler, captain Paul Robinson, and Trevor Ecclestone. Three other players, Jude McKardy, Colin Wakelam, and Barry Marsh (it's those Gornal Wakelams and Marshes again!) were also successful in competitions during the year.

No wonder gaffer Ian looks happy - he reckons that most of the £600 was 'reinvested' in his pub during celebrations to mark the team's success.
