Old Bulls Head's new menu

OldBull
These days a successful pub has to offer something more than just a place for a pint and a natter, and here at Yampy we've found that the most popular boozers in Gornal either provide regular entertainment, real ale, or good food. If you can find one that does all three, it's a sure recipe for a perfect evening out.

The Old Bull's Head has long been known for its extensive entertainment programme, and is fast gaining recognition (soon to be official recognition, perhaps?) for its regularly rotated range of fine guest beers. So when we heard that Avril and Gerry were starting to provide hot food for the first time, we had to go along to check it out.

Avril "It's really a response to customer requests" Avril told us "and I come from a catering background so it made sense for us to respond to the demand."

Avril used to help her mum out many years ago when - as quite a few Yampy readers may remember - the taxi building was the Corner Cafe. She passed her Food Hygiene certification while providing canteen facilities as a civilian NCO for the RAF - "some of the best days of my life", according to Avril.

The menu at the Old Bull focuses on excellent value. "Our full sized meals are just £2.99" said Avril "with hot snacks priced even lower and sweets at £2. Last week a party of seven ate for just under twenty pounds!"

Meals are available Monday to Friday from 5pm to 8pm, and Saturday from 2pm till 5pm. Click here for the menu.
