Dudley North MP in Air Training Corps role
A Gornal based Air Training Corps squadron has appointed our MP as Honorary President.
Ross Cranston QC, Labour MP for Dudley North, will perform the role at the
2132 (Sedgley)
Squadron Air Training Corps for the next three years.
Ross Cranston said: 'This is a great honour to be appointed to this position in the Air Training Corps.
I have very much enjoyed my association with the air cadets in Sedgley so far.
'Currently there are around 50 cadets in the Sedgley Corps in the 13-20 age range of both sexes. They get involved in flying, gliding, adventure training and camping on RAF bases around the country. The cadets themselves are a fantastic example of how young people can play a positive role in their communities. From what I have seen, they have a lot of fun and companionship in organising local events and activities too. For example, they organised the highly successful Upper Gornal Fun Day which I attended last year. I would urge more young people and teenagers to join the cadets1.'
Flight Lieutenant Kanas of the Training Corps said: 'We are absolutely delighted to have Mr Cranston as our Honorary President. He has already attended numerous events and is very well liked by cadets, staff and the Civilian Committee. He has taken tremendous interest in all things that we do. We look forward to many years of fruitful co-operation between him and ourselves. The next occasion he will join us in his new capacity will be the annual dining in and presentation evening on 22 March.'
The Air Cadets Training Corps HQ is at Roford Court, Clarence Street, Upper Gornal, Dudley DY3 1UW
