(4 + 4 + 4)/4 Cheers for James!
A Lower Gornal school is celebrating the achievement of a Year 8 student who is a runner-up in a borough wide maths
competition.
13 Year old Ellowes Hall pupil, James Rawlings says he simply 'tried his best' and is 'really happy' that
everyone at school is so proud of him.
The 'Four Fours' challenge was issued to all Dudley schools to use nothing but the figure '4' 4 times to make all of the
numbers up to 100 (e.g. 2= 4x4/(4+4) or 15= 4x4-(4/4)), during a week
of special activities and events arranged for
Dudley's
Year of Maths.
Hilary Brick, Head of Maths at Ellowes Hall said "our students worked very hard on the challenge and got a lot
from it." James will receive a prize at a presentation at Saltwells Education Centre on March 17th.
Nick Peremezhney, James Rawlings' maths teacher, said "I am really pleased for James, he deserved it."
