Lakes Club doomed Yampy learned late tonight that the proposal to demolish the Lakes Club and redevelop the site for housing has been approved. The future of the club has been in doubt since last September, when an initial planning application was lodged. This was rejected on a technicality, and a revised bid was submitted in December (click here). We understood from a Yampy reader present at the previous planning meeting that this second submission had also been refused, so tonight's decision will come as a surprise and disappointment, particularly to local people and community organisations that use the Lakes.
