Getting the Story Straight at Eve Lane and Jews Lane

Long awaited work to realign Jews Lane and Eve Lane into a conventional cross roads begins on Monday 13th October 2003. Traffic signals will be installed as part of the plan.

Subject to weather conditions, the project is expected to take ten weeks to complete, the first six of which will involve the closure of Eve Lane at its junction with Burton Road and Kent Street (A459). Temporary traffic lights will be in regular use - so expect travel delays.

This news will be welcome to anyone who has held their clutch on the bite for ten minutes at the top of Eve Lane. However, it will inevitably attract further traffic volume down the B4175, which is the Council's preferred route for heavy goods vehicles. There has been a catalogue of accidents and near misses on the road, which passes two primary schools on its way down to the Himley Road.
