Dudley Council Leader (and Gornal resident) David Caunt is encouraging local people to attend this Saturday’s bonfire at Himley Hall and Park, rather than holding firework parties in their back gardens.

The theme for this year’s extravaganza is Super Heroes and will feature Batman, Superman and music from James Bond. As well as the fireworks, lasers and massive bonfire there will also be the Beacon Radio Roadshow and a giant funfair.

Councillor David Caunt, Leader of Dudley Council, said:

“This year there have been countless reports of fireworks causing mayhem in many of the borough’s neighbourhoods, disturbing residents and frightening vulnerable people and animals.

“If people want to enjoy a terrific bonfire and fireworks in a safe and controlled environment I heartily recommend they come along to Dudley Council’s organised display at Himley. It’s always the biggest and best in the Black Country and this year’s promises to be no exception. It attracts thousands of people and serves the local community incredibly well.”

This is the 18th year that the Council has organised a firework display, and Principal Leisure Officer Sally Piazzalunga told Yampy that no stone is left unturned in order to ensure that the event runs smoothly and safely:

"We go in to the finest detail - from ensuring we have the right number of first aiders on site to checking the swans, geese and ducks are not in distress at the end of the evening.”

Gates open on Saturday 8th November at 4.30pm. It costs £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. For further details contact 01902 326665.
