Some Pain, Some Gain! An 18 year old Lower Gornal student has raised more than £150 in less than a day, after deciding to have his legs waxed for Comic Relief! Fellow sixth formers and other students from Ellowes Hall School were only too happy to part with cash to see Mark Wakelam have hair pulled off his legs in strips. Mark said "I was surprised that it didn't hurt as much as I thought, but I do feel sorry for girls that go through it regularly." More than 80 students and staff sponsored Mark and a further 10 paid extra for the chance to rip a strip of wax from his legs. He added "I am really pleased with the amount we raised and hope that Comic Relief do well this year." Fellow sixth former, Nick Farmer, 18, said "That was the best £1 ever spent, to see Mark's face when he was waxed".
