Council Apology for Strike Confusion
Yampy was pleased to receive an email yesterday from Geoff MacLaren, Divisional Manager at Enviromental Services, in
which he apologised for the disruption caused by the 17th July strike, which created particular confusion in Gornal
with regard to subsequent Bulk Collection arrangements.
Unfortunately, Geoff informs us that more strike action is planned for Wednesday 14th August, although National talks
continue to try to avert the stoppage.
Geoff confirms that the Saturday Bulk Collections are now complete for this calendar year, but reminds us that there
is a chargeable facility on request. Prices range from..
£12 for a small collection i.e.3 piece suite
£19 for a medium collection i.e. 3 piece suite plus additional small items
..up to £32 for a large collection.
In addition there is a white goods collection service for fridges etc. at £12 per unit.
These are domestic charges for individual doorstep collections and they can be requested by telephone on
01384 814633.This service operates Monday to Friday throughout the year.
