The Swan stood on the corner of Humphrey Street/Lake Street, where a 2 storey
block of flats is now. There was a picture of a swan on the window.
The pub was licensed by Jack Collins and Lona Collins (nee Beardsmore).
Lona has sadly died but Mr Collins lives in Turners Grove. I recall that Lona always kept her coat on!
Barry Clarke tells us:
My uncle, Fred Edwards also kept The Swan for a few years during the 1940's, before Jack (Collins).
Alas, both my uncle Fred and his wife aunt Floss are both dead.
