The Limerick Update 9/5/03 Mike Love's contribution

pub Many thanks to local artist and photographer Gary Tilyard for this image of The Limerick in Summit Place, near The Bush.

We are grateful to Mike Love for the following details:

My mom and dad kept the Limerick from 1989 till 1995. Their names - Ian & Rita Love. Regulars included:

Malcom & Jean Hickman, Jean's Sister Wendy & Bob, Colin Jones, Paul Beddard, Arthur Hickman, Anny Flavell, John Flavell, Iris & Malcom Bennett, Joan & Eric Burrows, Brian Birch, Colin Lester.

We now live at the Red Cow on the Grosvenor Road from October 2000. My dad Ian was born in the Limerick 1951, when his mother and father kept the pub. They then moved to the Crooked House in the late 1965 (Mick & Flo Love). The Love family kept the Limerick for 3 generations.

When living at the Crooked House my mom + dad can state that they had a pet goose and it attacked anyone that came close to toilet. Can anyone remember him? (yes! click here)

Please help to fill this page with your memories of the Limerick, its licensees, and its regulars. Email us at admin@yampy.co.uk.
