Gornal Cubs on parade, 1959

We shouldn't really be embarassing valued Yampy contributors like this, but Akela asked us to try as hard as we could to make Ian Beach and Gary Westwood squirm:

"Yampy! Do Your Best!"

"We.. Will.. Do.. Our.. Best.." (it's a cub thing..)

It's 1959, and ten year old Ian (of www.sedgleymanor.com fame) and future Yampy poet Gary are on parade, reluctantly no doubt but if you missed them you might get kicked out. And then what would there be to do all summer?

Ian is the one looking particularly proud of his pole, while Gary's on his left wishing he was somewhere else. Note the triangular decoration on Gary's arm - yes, he has already gained his Real Ale Appreciation badge.

At the rear is the rival Lower Gornal pack. Can any Yampy reader identify the smiling chap behind Gary? Why not share your scouts, guides, brownies and St. John's Ambulance memories with us?
