YAMPY MOVIE REVIEW
Scooby Doo - The Dog's Bark Larks?

Are you Yampy in Disguise? Zoinks! 1970's TV cartoon finally made it to the big screen? Yampy went along to Showcase Cinemas to investigate.

All the characters of the Mystery Inc. team; Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred, have been kept as close to the original TV show characters as possible. Raja Gosnell, the director, decided on a computer-generated Scooby, which turned out to be a good idea because it meant that with regards to the antics of Scooby, anything was possible. However, it's Matthew Lillard as Shaggy who steals the show - his portrayal of the long-haired hippy is spot on. Brainy geek, Velma, is played by Linda Cardellini, while Daphne is Buffy star, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Cool, suave Fred is played well enough by Freddie Prinz jr. who had to have his dark hair dyed blonde for the part.

The feature length film sees the team travelling to Spooky Island theme park to solve the mystery of a brain washing cult and to battle with computer-generated monsters, who were actually quite scary! Watch out for the part where Scooby has to dress up as a grandmother in order for him to be allowed on the plane. All is going according to plan - until he spots a cat.

The villain Mondavarious is played very believably by Rowan Atkinson, who looks as if he relished playing the part. Scooby-Doo is a supernatural adventure film with plenty of corny gags thrown in for good measure. Scooby will delight people of all ages this summer and it is guaranteed that throughout the school holidays, kids everywhere will be shouting 'Scooby-Doo - where am yow?'
